    The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the major stabilizing ligaments in the knee and is commonly injured during sports activities. ACL reconstruction is a surgical procedure to replace a torn or damaged ACL ligament in your knee with a new ACL tissue graft usually obtained from your own body.
